Grew up with this Album, January 19, 2001 Reviewer: Ted Handford from Whistler, B.C. Canada I bought this album in the mid 60's as a teenager growing up in Ontario, Canada. Along with "Northern Journey", it was my initiation to this type of music. I have my favourite songs from this album, of course. I recently bought the "Best of the Vanguard Years" CD and found many of my favourites on it, but some were missing. Specifically, "Red Velvet" and "Marlborough Street Blues" were not included! I saw Ian Tyson in Vancouver last fall. He sang "Four Strong Winds" of course, but I would have really enjoyed hearing him sing Red Velvet or Marlborough Street Blues. He seemed to want to distance himself from his folk past and I can understand his interest in his most recent work. However, it would be good to hear more of his early songs. He's always been a cowboy and many of his early songs are cowboy songs. Maybe he could redo some of the early songs on a new CD!??
Anyway, Ian has always been a big hero of mine and a Canadian legend.
