After 15 years away, Bob ("The Clint Eastwood of Canadian folk music" - Gary Cristall) returned to the studio to make GABRIOLA V0R1X0. The CD has received glowing reviews in Folk Roots, Sing Out!, Dirty Linen, Victory Review, Northern Journey and other publications."Not many people", says Pete Seeger, "can write songs that are funny, informative and inspiring at the same time. Bossin can." Bob is joined on the album by John Reischman, Stephen Fearing, Roy Forbes, Valdy, Ann Mortifee, Veda Hille and a who's who of the Vancouver folk and jazz scene. The songs include "The Secret of Life According to Satchel Paige" ("The best baseball song ever" - Ken Orchard, Offbeat Magazine), "Sulphur Passage" ("Maybe THE environmental anthem for our time" - Sing Out!), the CBC hit "Ya Wanna Marry Me?" and the almost comprehensible "La Chanson Francee."

NEW! I wrote Nanaimo after Gabriola V0R1X0 was released, and I have not returned to the studio since. When the baby's older. However it is available on a CD of live recordings of BC songwriters from CBC Radio's Saturday morning arts program, North By Northwest. (The show, hosted and produced by David Grierson, only airs in BC.) The CD is called "Eight Thirty-Eight Saturday Morning" - the time the items were broadcast - and features songs by 15 selected singer-songwriters. Along with my musical trip to Nanaimo are songs by Todd Butler, Michael Friedman, Shari Ulrich, Megan Metcalfe, Stephen Fearing, Bill Henderson, Carolyn Neapole, Pete McCormack, Jenny Lester, Valdy, Tumbleweed, Linda McRae, Roy Forbes, Geoffrey Kelly & John Mann. I can sell you a copy of "8:38" for $20. Some of the proceeds go to "ArtStarts in Schools."
